The Perfect Earrings for your Face Shape
The Perfect Earrings for your Face Shape
I bet you have never even given this a thought. The idea of your earrings complimenting and highlighting the natural shape of your face might sound a bit odd. But as with makeup, hairstyles and outfits, there’s a certain type that will suit you even better than others. Of course this is not a strict rule and you can still wear whatever you want but for those of you looking to take your earring game to the next level, read on to find out what earrings look best with your face shape.
Heart Face Shape
A heart shaped face is characterised by a narrow chin and a wider forehead. To introduce some balance to your face shape, earrings that are wider at the bottom will be most flattering. If you want to focus on complementing your face shape, I would recommend avoiding top-heavy earrings or ones that add no width next to the jaw.
Oval Face Shape
An oval face is characterised by the length being greater than the width of the cheekbones. It’s also noticeable because of the rounded jaw. The oval face shape is the easiest to work with so you can go as crazy as you like picking your perfect style. However, it is often recommended that you don’t go for extremely long earrings as this might elongate the face.
Square/Rectangular Face Shape
Square shaped faces are noticeable for their strong jawlines. If you’re looking to soften your jaw, opt for curved styles of earrings and avoid jewellery with harsh angles.
Diamond Face Shape
This face shape is recognisable by the eyes being the widest point on the face and the forehead usually mirrors the chin. This shape is difficult to flatter as there is already a lot of balance. Smaller earrings or studs are recommended. If you prefer bigger earrings, pairs that widen at the bottom will also flatter this face shape.
Round Face Shape
A rounded face tends to be shorter in length so using longer earrings will give the illusion of a lengthier face. If you have this face shape, you may want to avoid rounded earrings as this may exaggerate the roundness. Focus on adding length rather than width.
I just want to finish by saying that you can absolutely ignore this advice if you want! You can express yourself in whatever way you want and there are no rules to what jewellery you can wear.
